I believe in the power of storytelling though natural + adventurous imagery. I'm passionate about people, places, their purpose, + the story they have to tell of new beginnings + good old times. I'm here for all the in-between moments that make the mundane grand + large celebrations so much more. There's no greater story than the story of you + yours.
I like to photograph things as they are - the way the good Lord intended them to be. Simple + real. The best photographs capture how you felt in that very moment. Photographs are a tangible way of holding on to those feelings forever.
How I go about photographing your special day reflects the things I value.
I do love beautifully prompted photos but it's what is captured in-between that gets me. These are the moments that reveal who you are and is a reflection of you + your love - whether you're entirely sentimental, romantic, goofy, wild, or maybe even a little bit weird. THAT is what I aim to capture in every wedding, elopement, and session - everything that is you + yours.
Old Polaroid photographs have a special place in my heart. My husband and I's 8 year relationship has been primarily documented through my 1982 OneStep 600 Polaroid camera. Polaroids taken with that same camera are included in all my wedding and elopement packages.
I was born + raised in the suburbs of Milwaukee, WI but now reside in the sweetest home tucked away between the Mississippi River + the bluffs of Winona, MN. I'm married to one heck of a guy, Matt. He also just so happens to be Kay Collective's built-in second shooter. I love coffee, kombucha, live music, all things vintage, traveling, gardening, rock climbing, + hiking with our pup Honey. Outside of photography, Matt + I so enjoy having people gathered in our home sharing a meal around the table - we often host dinner parties. I think this is why intimate weddings hold such a special place in my heart because it often involves loved ones from near + far gathered around a table to celebrate love + new beginnings. This is how Matt + I went about our wedding day with 30 of our closest friends + family.

"Kelsa did photography for mine and my husband’s wedding last year, and she was absolutely incredible! She made the day stress free and made family photos a breeze! She captured a beautiful rainbow at sunset and found just the right spots for our fall pictures. She turned our wedding photos truly into art and I still obsess over them. Kelsa is one of the most kind hearted and genuine people I know and it is reflected in her work. I’m so thankful to have had her do our wedding photos!"
